...Another idea for yet another story came to me this past week; it will be set in Gluecksburg in the late 1940's, and focus on a 'genetic research scientist' who worked on the island of Svalbard during the 2nd world war. His 'experiments' were classified under the German government; after the surrender of the Germans in Flensburg in May, 1945, the man 'hid out' for 2-3 years in Norway with a secret mistress (with whom he had a 'love child'). When he returns to his wife and 2 small children in Germany, the plot will examine and display the life that he left behind in the remote north - and the complicated twists that occur with the secret Norwegian mistress.

Now that I have this idea in place, I have the 12 short stories that I one day plan to 'try to sell' to an agent, once all 12 are completed. The 12 stories are: 'The King Of Thuringia'(Schmalkalden, 1650), 'Ilise Schoch' (Muenster, 1730's), 'Soldiers In Training' (Werder/Berlin, 1798), 'Carneval' (Cologne, 1893), 'Sounds Of Francesca'(Frankenberg, 1906), Klarissa's story(unnamed; Hohnstein, 1504), the Count's story(unnamed; Kufstein, 1860's), the happy German's story(untitled; Bremen, 1810), the Pagan tribe's story(untitled; Tangermuende, 1275), the Frisian family's story(unnamed, Fohr, 1916), the Burschenschaften's story(unnamed, Jena, 1819), and the research scientist's story(untitled,Svalbard/Germany/Norway, 1948). Additionally there is a saucy, 'B-movie-type' script already forming in my head, that follows the trials and tribulations (maybe in a diary form) of a popular German/Swiss actress from the late 1970's... and there is a ghost story about a girl named Linnea, somewhere over by the German/Luxembourg border area. Once I have the initial 12 done, it will be agent-hunting time for me... and it should be pretty exciting! :)
