In the story I am working on, Klarissa just went to check on a fellow parish member who has not been seen for some time. When she meets with Herr Reissert, he explains the reason for his recent absence: "The trolls have arrived in the village". Klarissa is frightened by this news (it may sound funny to us, but this was back in the early 16th century, in central Europe)... so she rushes home and goes to tell the pastor this the next day. The pastor does not react the way she expects him to, however; he tells her to 'keep quiet about this' because he doesn't want the village to erupt in a panic. Klarissa reluctantly does as he requests... but when a young child is found dead in the forest a short time later, she will regret having kept her silence, as she will be convinced that the crime was committed by the trolls. While this is playing out, she also develops a romantic interest in Bruno, a 'bad boy' in the neighborhood who belongs to a cult practicing necromancy. Her affair with him will be brief, as she becomes afraid of him and she is well aware that her father would disapprove of her love interest. Zamiel will be a much better choice for her; but Bruno is stubborn and possessive, as well as fearless and he 'runs in a pack' in the forest. Then Klarissa will become engaged in figuring out just what her father is up to, sneaking out late at night and visiting that beautiful castle high on the side of a hill...
