I just added a goal here on EP, 'I will visit the dentist by year's end'. I decided to post this as a goal because it's too easy to talk oneself out of visiting the dentist, and I've already let 3 years go by without so much as even calling the dentist's office. It's just one of those things; you know you have to do it but you just don't WANT to do it. So I'm hoping that by making this a goal, it will help me stick to it and do what I know I have to do. I plan on marking what day I make the appointment, when I actually go in and what was the result of the visit. I have never had novacain for cavity-drilling, I've always gotten the drilling done straight and it only starts to hurt the last 10 seconds or so of the drilling. It's funny how such an unpleasant, but often very brief, sensation of getting your teeth poked and prodded can cause such anxiety in people - even when they take good care of their teeth, as I do. Why are people so anxious about going to the dentist? There has to be some logical reason...
